I have struggled with the instillation of pinned hinges. Epoxy is too messy and hard to insert into the hinge slot and Elmers wood glue may not hold.
I have used Gorilla glue for Depron foam and find it very strong but it expands 3-4 times as it cures. You must pin, tape, or clamp the parts to prevent separation. So I thought that Gorilla glue might be perfect for securing pinned hinges. I placed a small amount of white Gorilla glue on the hinge slot then on both sides of the hinge and inserted the hinge. Next I removed the hinge and wiped off any glue and wiped clear the outside of the hinge slot then reinserted the pinned hinge and allowed it to dry. Practice on some scrap balsa or Depron and your hinges to learn how much Gorilla glue to apply (not much) and how well to wipe the hinge clean before final installation. It really grips when cured. You have about 5-10 minutes to work with your hinge before this glue starts to set. Allow to dry overnight. Note - any moisture will accelerate the curing process.
Luck,
Vince
