EXI-250 tail problems - SOLVED
I have had a terrible time adjusting the tail of my EXI-250 helicopter. I upgraded the tail servo from an Esky digital 8 gram to a Corona 919MG and am using a good gyro (Logictech 2100t) but no matter I could not get good tail stability in standard mode and head hold mode was impossible. I changed the wire tail push rod to a carbon fiber rod. Anyone wants to guess at this point what was wrong????
Upon careful exam of the tail pulley (I finally looked) I noted that the pulley (gear) moved back and forth sideways changing the tail blade pitch without any inputs. After a previous belt change I had installed the left side of the tail assembly inside out. This allowed lots of slop in the tail rotor shaft assembly. I corrected the problem – guess what I have a perfect tail in both standard mode and head hold mode.
Lesson – when all else fails examine the device carefully.
Luck,
Vince
