Soldering R/C battery connectors

Problem – It is difficult to obtain good solder joints between lipo batteries and Deans connectors.

Solution – I purchased a “Deans & XT Soldering Jig” from www.vigilante-rc.com for $19.99 and now have perfect solder joints. I also have a Sears
Craftsman solder gun Dual 230/150 watt and this really is necessary
to get these large wires hot enough to make a good connection.

I also have been using XT-60 style connectors for my BIG (2650mAh 6S) batteries as they come installed and Hobby King has these connectors very cheap
compared to Deans connectors. Apparently “Deans Connectors” are
patented and thus more expensive. I have found a Deans clone that is
much cheaper called “New Deans XT style Ultra connector
Plugs” available
on Ebay.
