My Trex 500 is pretty much dialed in.  It flys rather nice and I am looking forward to a great summer with it.  Need to do a little more work on the Trex 450.  I am not totally happy with the hold on the tail.  I can still do a slight blow out with a hard collective punch.  If I dial in much more gain it get a twitch.  Oh well, it is getting close.  The Trex 250 is also getting close after a gyro failure and dirt nap this winter.  Time to work on stunt mode for it.  Got the Trex 700 tail wag nailed it looks like.  It turns out that the gain in the ESC when I run it in governor mode was too low.  It caused the tail to hunt because of the hunting the motor was doing.  Changed the settings in the ESC and it is good to go.  Now, to decide if I want autorotation mode in the programming so I can do bail outs and have the motor come back to full power faster.  Need to finish the tweeking of the Trex 600.  The 3GX and FBL in general is quite the thing to learn.  Vince, lets grab a bird or two and go let em fly.

Thanks Terry.  I did finally find it.  I decided to go back to by base tail set up.  This was a bird I had gotten used.  Well, I have learned to never trust a setup done by anyone else it seems ( ok I will make a few exceptions ).  Well at any rate, I placed the gyro in rate mode and worked on getting a zero trim zero input hover.  This takes some adjusting on the linkages and the servo horn.  Once I got that, I placed the gyro back into HH mode and it was spot on.  I have learned that there is very little I can do if the tail is not set up mechanically as perfect as I can before I work on the gyro.

On a related note, if anyone is using a 3GX FBL controller, please note that the gyro gain for the tail is controlled by AUX 2, not the Gear or channel 5.  I learned this one the heard way.  Channel 5 controls the Gov if one is using a nitro engine.  Once I got that straightened away it was smooth sailing so to speak.

Happy Flying!!
